I Spent Two Decades in Finance.
Then I Automated It.
I'm not a tech consultant who read a book about accounting. I'm a finance professional who got tired of busy work and sought solutions. I study AI not for the hype, but for the workflows it can genuinely improve.

Meet Roger Phillips
I spent two decades inside finance operations — month-end closes that felt like marathons, reconciliations that ate entire weeks, and reporting cycles that never ended. Then I discovered automation, and everything changed.
Now I help finance teams deploy the same AI and automation tools that transformed my own work. No hype, no buzzwords — just practical systems that save real hours every week.
The Journey
Bookkeeper & Front Desk Manager
Graduated in 2005 and started at the Keizer Renaissance Inn — juggling the books and the front desk. Learned hospitality finance from the ground up, one guest folio and reconciliation at a time.
Company Controller
Promoted to Controller, overseeing the books for two hotels, a conference center, and a restaurant. Five years of month-end closes, multi-entity reporting, and the daily grind of manual finance work across the whole operation.
Finance Operations
Broadened into accounting and FP&A roles. Lived through more month-end closes, ERP migrations, and the endless cycle of manual reporting.
The Automation Awakening
Discovered Zapier and Make.com. Automated my own workflows first — shaved 15 hours off my weekly workload. Got obsessed.
Building the Toolkit
Mastered n8n, Python scripting, Power BI automation, and AI integrations. Started helping colleagues and then their departments.
Full-Time Consulting
Now I build custom automation systems for finance teams worldwide. 200+ professionals trained, 50+ automations deployed.
Tools I Use Daily
These are the platforms and languages I deploy for clients — battle-tested, not theoretical.

My Philosophy
Automation isn't about replacing people. It's about giving them back the hours they're wasting on work that doesn't require human judgment. Every finance professional deserves to spend their day on analysis, strategy, and decisions — not data entry.
I only recommend tools I've used myself, in real finance environments, with real deadlines and real auditors asking questions. If I haven't deployed it, I don't sell it.
